Queen Omolara Haastrup Otta homecoming was filled with joy, reverence and deep cultural symbolism as Her Royal Majesty, Olori Omolara Sherifat Haastrup (Nee Akinsanya), consort of His Royal Majesty, Oba Clement Adesuyi Haastrup, Owa Obokun of Ijeshaland, paid a historic courtesy visit to Ipeti Royal Square in Otta, Aworiland on Saturday, 28th June 2025.

Born into the esteemed Akinsanya family of Idole Compound in Otta, Olori Omolara was warmly welcomed by His Majesty, Oba (Professor) Adeyemi Obalanlege, the Olota of Ottaland, alongside members of the Olota-in-Council, traditional chiefs, the Akinsanya family, Iyalajes and many dignitaries who gathered to honour the Queen’s return.

The ceremonial gathering resonated with traditional music, blessings and cultural expressions of unity between Ijeshaland and Ottaland.

A solemn session of royal prayers, known as Iwure, was led by Oba Wadudu Ajani Deinde, Akogun Oloruba of Oruba Otta, with support from High Chief Adedayo Akindele-Eleku, Lisa of Otta.

These prayers were offered for continued peace, prosperity and strength for both kingdoms.

In her remarks, Olori Omolara expressed profound gratitude to the Olota of Otta for his gracious welcome.

She thanked His Majesty for honouring the coronation ceremony of the Owa Obokun in Ijeshaland on 23rd May 2025 and praised his distinguished leadership in advancing the cause of Otta and the greater Aworiland.

Joining in the welcome was Senator (Prince) Gbolahan Dada, together with several distinguished monarchs and titleholders including Oba Clement Olusegun Akinyemi, the Ajana of Ijana-Otta, and numerous high chiefs representing the spiritual and civic leadership of Ottaland.

His Majesty, the Olota, offered special prayers for Olori Omolara and the Owa Obokun, wishing them divine strength and enduring peace throughout Ijeshaland.

The Akinsanya family remains a beacon of ancestral pride in Otta. As both of Queen Omolara’s parents originate from the town, her heritage continues to be an inspiring link between the ancient traditions of Aworiland and the royal seat of Ijeshaland.
