The event, scheduled for Sunday, 13 July 2025, will be held at the Victoria Garden Event Centre, Alausa, Ikeja, and promises a lavish entertainment experience for both Rotarians and their guests.
A press statement signed by Rotarian Segun Adebowale, Chairman of the Media and Publicity Team of the Installation Planning Committee, confirmed that the legendary King Sunny Ade, also known as Otunba Sunday Ishola Adeniyi Adegeye, will be joined by Nigeria’s hottest band on the social scene, Shuga Band.
Both acts are expected to deliver a deeply engaging and memorable night for all attendees.
“We were very intentional about our choice of the two leading musicians and performers,” said Adebowale.
“Our desire is to have the audience lavishly entertained as we install Prince Henry Akinyele as our District Governor for the 2025/2026 Rotary Year. We believe strongly that the legendary KSA and Shuga Band will deliver maximally on that expectation.”
He added that the King Sunny Ade performance would not only provide top-tier entertainment but also carry symbolic weight, noting the shared royal roots between the newly installed District Governor and the Juju music icon.
Both men hail from Ondo State and are sons of royal families, a connection the organisers believe will resonate with guests and amplify the theme of royalty and service.
“The District Governor is from a royal family in Ondo State, just as KSA, who is not only from the same state but also a royal,” Adebowale said. “They both have the DNA of royalty in them.”
Shuga Band, led by Rotarian Akinloye Tofowomo, will also take the stage to support the King Sunny Ade performance, creating a musical synergy rooted in shared origin and Rotary fellowship.
Like KSA, Tofowomo is an Ondo State native and a respected member of the Rotary family, ensuring the night remains deeply meaningful to the cause.
According to Adebowale, “The band will surely complement King Sunny Ade’s performance, and the audience will be entertained most memorably.”
In addition to the musical excitement, the evening will include fundraising efforts dedicated to Rotary’s humanitarian goals. Guests are expected from across Nigeria’s Rotary circles and the broader community.
While music will take centre stage, the true essence of the gathering remains Rotary’s enduring commitment to service above self.
Adebowale said the committee’s goal was to blend purpose with celebration, ensuring the night not only inspires generosity but also creates lasting memories.
“The goal is that while we will be raising funds for humanitarian causes, which is the primary essence of the event, it is also being planned to be a most memorable one for all Rotarians and the guests,” he explained.
The anticipation surrounding the King Sunny Ade performance is already building across the Rotary community, with expectations that it will set a new benchmark for district installations in Nigeria.
As Prince Henry Akinyele takes up leadership of District 9111 for the 2025/2026 Rotary Year, organisers hope the event’s elegance, musical richness, and spirit of service will mirror his royal pedigree and the responsibilities of his new role.
