Otunba Femi Davies buries his beloved mum in Lagos and Abeokuta with Freelanews team on ground to cover the emotional ceremonies. A tribute to a matriarch

Otunba Femi Davies has buried mum in a moving farewell that reflected deep affection, public respect, and heartfelt tributes.

The revered media personality, cultural advocate and publisher of Metronews laid his mother, Deaconess Bolajoko Idowu, to rest in a series of ceremonies held across Lagos and Ogun State.

The journey of remembrance began on Thursday, July 24, 2025, with a Service of Songs at Christ Baptist Church, 46 Akiwowo Street, Akowonjo, Dopemu, Lagos.

The evening was marked by worship, reflection, and emotional tributes from family and friends who described the late deaconess as a woman of faith and principle.

The burial service followed the next morning, Friday, July 25, at the same church.

The solemn gathering drew prominent personalities and leaders who came to honour a life lived with grace.

The Freelanews team was on ground to cover the full breadth of the ceremonies, capturing the heartfelt emotions and enduring legacy left behind.

After the service, interment took place at Lantoro Missionary Cemetery in Abeokuta, Ogun State. It was a peaceful resting place for a mother whose strength and spirituality shaped generations.

The final celebration of life was held at the prestigious Conference Hotel, Oke Mosan, Abeokuta, where guests gathered in a relaxed atmosphere to share memories, enjoy soulful music, and pay final respects.

The passing of Deaconess Bolajoko Idowu is a significant moment for the Davies family, but her legacy of compassion, faith, and service lives on.
