NIDCOM defends Nigerians in Ghana after viral protest video. Calls for calm and diplomacy as officials address deportation demands. No verified attacks reported
Nigerians in Ghana have received strong support from the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM) following a viral video of a protest demanding their deportation.

The protestors accused Nigerians of cultism, fraud, and other crimes, calling on Ghanaian authorities to take action.
In a swift response, NIDCOM Chairperson Abike Dabiri-Erewa condemned the generalization of all Nigerians as criminals, stating, “Nigerians are not criminals. They are good ambassadors wherever they find themselves.”
She emphasized that while anyone involved in illegal activity must face justice, it is unjust to target an entire nationality.
Calling for calm and diplomacy, Dabiri-Erewa urged both nations to avoid escalation, describing Nigeria and Ghana as “Siamese twins” under the ECOWAS umbrella.
“There is no verified evidence that Nigerian-owned properties have been attacked,” she added, addressing social media rumors.

NIDCOM reaffirmed its commitment to protecting Nigerians in Ghana, applauding ongoing efforts by both countries’ diplomats to defuse tensions peacefully.
