The amateur photographer had been convinced by a friend to photograph the wedding as a cost-saving measure. Despite expressing his lack of experience in wedding photography, he agreed to the job for a fee of $250.
He mentions, “They were on a shoestring budget and I agreed to shoot it for $250, which is nothing for a 10-hour event”.
Starting his work at 11 am and scheduled to finish around 7:30 pm, the situation took a frustrating turn around 5 pm when food was served.
The photographer was informed that he couldn’t take a break to eat as he needed to continue capturing moments. To make matters worse, no table was reserved for him, and there was no provision for water.
Exhausted, hungry, and increasingly irritated, the photographer approached the groom around 5 pm, requesting a brief 20-minute break to eat and drink. However, the groom insisted that he must either continue working or leave without payment.
Frustrated by the lack of consideration for his basic needs, the photographer made a drastic decision.
In front of the groom, he deleted all the photos he had taken and declared that he was no longer associated with the wedding. He emphasized that, given the circumstances, he would have gladly paid $250 for a glass of cold water and a brief respite.
“I deleted all the photos I took in front of him and took off saying I’m not his photographer anymore. If I was to be paid $250, honestly at that point I would have paid $250 just for a glass of cold water and somewhere to sit for 5 minutes.”
While many users felt that he did the right thing to teach people a lesson, but according to some users he did wrong, as it would impact his friendship with the groom.
