Budget-Friendly Mass Housing gets support from Dangote Cement, as the firm calls for public-private partnerships to close Nigeria’s housing deficit at AIHS 2025

Budget-Friendly Mass Housing took center stage at the 2025 Africa International Housing Show (AIHS), as Dangote Cement Plc called for stronger collaboration among stakeholders to address Nigeria’s deepening housing crisis.

Speaking at the event, Dangote Cement’s National Sales Director, Dolapo Alli, stressed the need for joint efforts between government, private developers, NGOs, and communities to scale up affordable housing delivery across the country.

He advocated for public-private partnerships (PPPs) to help fund and implement mass housing schemes.

Alli recommended tax waivers and financial incentives for companies involved in housing development.

“The government can adopt PPP models to initiate the construction of new estates,” he said, adding that policy reform and access to land are vital to meeting demand.

While he praised the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Housing Initiative, Alli highlighted several challenges stalling progress: rapid urbanization, high construction costs, lack of infrastructure, and limited access to long-term financing.

He emphasized that innovative financing solutions, regulatory streamlining, and better data on housing needs are crucial to real progress.

Dangote Cement’s sponsorship of AIHS reflects its commitment to sustainable housing.

The event, which concluded on August 1, brought together top players in the housing sector under the theme of affordability and accessibility.

With Nigeria’s housing deficit in the millions, Alli’s call serves as a powerful reminder that collaborative action—not isolated efforts—is key to solving the crisis.
