Shettima to headline CRMI International Risk Conference Nigeria 2025, tackling global risks with local strategies. Experts to meet in Lagos

The CRMI International Risk Conference Nigeria will convene this month in Lagos, with Vice President Kashim Shettima set to lead a powerful gathering of policymakers, corporate executives, and risk professionals to address the world’s escalating risks through locally tailored solutions.

Organised by the Chartered Risk Management Institute of Nigeria (CRMI), the 24th annual conference is themed “Global Risks, Local Solutions” and aims to tackle challenges like climate change, AI-driven disruption, public health crises, and economic instability.

“This year’s conference is more than an event; it is a strategic gathering,” said Kevin Ugwuoke, newly inaugurated President and Chairman of CRMI’s Governing Council.

“Nigeria must be prepared to navigate a rapidly changing world.”

The 2025 conference is regarded as a crucial platform for developing Africa’s resilience strategies, especially as the continent grapples with youth unemployment, infrastructure gaps, and institutional weaknesses amid rising global uncertainty.

The institute noted that adapting global risk models to Africa’s unique realities has become more critical than ever.

“We’re calling on public and private leaders to address uncertainty with foresight, agility, and innovation,” the organisers added.

This year’s conference will feature:

  • Keynotes by Shettima and global experts
  • Panels on ESG, enterprise risk, cybersecurity, and national security
  • Masterclasses for SMEs, governments, and corporates
  • Launch of new research tools tailored for Nigeria and Africa

The summit is targeting senior government officials, risk analysts, financial professionals, tech innovators, and sustainability experts, reinforcing its reputation as West Africa’s most influential risk management event.

Ugwuoke said the CRMI is committed to building risk-intelligent institutions that can thrive under global pressure.

He emphasized that local strategies, when aligned with international frameworks, can drive real progress for African societies.

“We must build our own playbook for resilience. The time to act is now,” he concluded.
