Dangote truck accident claims lives in Enugu a week after Ruth Otabor’s death, sparking outrage over safety and accountability
A Dangote truck accident has once again drawn national attention after a tragic crash at Four Corner along the Enugu-Port Harcourt Expressway in Nkanu West, Enugu State, claimed the lives of an entire family and three others.

Eyewitnesses described the scene as horrific, with a vehicle completely flattened under the weight of the trailer. None of the family members reportedly survived.
This heartbreaking incident comes just a week after another Dangote truck was linked to the death of Ruth Otabor, younger sister of Big Brother Naija Season 7 winner, Phyna.
Ruth had been critically injured in Auchi, Edo State, when her legs were crushed. Despite Dangote Group’s efforts to provide medical and financial support, including arrangements for advanced treatment in India, Ruth sadly passed away.
The company expressed sorrow in a public statement, offering condolences to Ruth’s family and reaffirming its commitment to accountability and safety.
Officials emphasized that compassion and responsibility remain at the core of Dangote Group’s operations, vowing to strengthen safety protocols to prevent further tragedies.
Still, the fresh Enugu crash has fueled public outrage and renewed calls for stricter safety measures for heavy-duty vehicles on Nigerian highways.
