Fubara dissolves Rivers Pensions Board in his first major action since reinstatement, assigning duties to the Accountant General pending a new board.
In a special government announcement issued in Port Harcourt on Friday by the State Head of Service, Mrs Inyingi Brown, Governor Siminalayi Fubara ordered the immediate dissolution of the board.

The statement directed members of the former board to hand over all properties and assets in their custody to the Director of Administration of the board.
It further noted that the Office of the State Accountant General will temporarily take over the functions of the Pensions Board until a new board is constituted.
No reason was given for the dissolution. However, the decision marks the governor’s first decisive move since his return to office, signalling a possible restructuring of key state institutions.
“The Executive Governor of Rivers State, His Excellency, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has approved the immediate dissolution of the Rivers State Pensions Board,” the statement read in part.
“Consequently, the Office of the Accountant General of Rivers State, henceforth, will handle the functions of the Board.”
