ADC condemns Uche Nnaji forgery scandal silence, accusing Tinubu’s government of tolerating corruption and demanding the minister’s suspension and probe

ADC condemns Uche Nnaji and has criticised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration for retaining the Minister of Science, Technology, and Innovation despite mounting allegations of certificate forgery against him.

In a strongly worded statement issued on Monday by its National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) said the government’s inaction reflects its comfort with corruption and disregard for integrity.

“Despite mounting evidence and public outrage, Mr. Uche Nnaji remains in office after admitting that the certificates he presented were not issued by the relevant institutions and may have been forged,” the ADC stated.

The party accused the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) of having a long history of certificate controversies and said the Nnaji case further exposes the administration’s moral decay.

According to the ADC, credible reports have confirmed that both the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) and the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) disowned the certificates the minister submitted for his appointment.

It also noted that Nnaji’s court filings admitted that UNN never issued him a degree certificate.

“The question every Nigerian is asking is simple: if the minister is not honourable enough to resign, why is the Tinubu government still keeping him in office?” the ADC queried, adding that the silence of the administration mocks its anti-corruption posture.

The party described the situation as “a disservice to the nation” and urged President Tinubu to suspend the minister immediately and order an independent investigation.

“If found guilty, he should not only be dismissed but also prosecuted for forgery and perjury. Certificate forgery is not a clerical error—it is a crime,” the statement read.

The ADC also called on the Senate and the Department of State Services (DSS) to review their screening procedures for political appointees, warning that repeated oversight failures undermine public trust.

By refusing to act decisively, the ADC said, the Tinubu administration has shown that integrity and accountability have no place in its leadership.
