Aliko Dangote University expels 34 students and rusticates 13 over exam malpractice. Warnings issued as senate ratifies disciplinary actions

Aliko Dangote University of Science and Technology, Wudil, in Kano State, has expelled 34 students for examination misconduct, in a sweeping disciplinary decision aimed at upholding academic integrity.

In addition, 13 other students have been rusticated for one academic session, while several received formal warnings.

The university disclosed the sanctions in a statement released on Friday by Abdullahi Datti, Head of Information, Publications and Public Relations.

The disciplinary actions followed the approval of the report of the Examinations Regulations and Irregularities Committee by the university senate at its 123rd meeting held on 9 October 2025.

“The report includes recommendations for different kinds of punishments for students who were found to have engaged in examination malpractice,” the statement read.

The move underscores the institution’s zero-tolerance stance on academic dishonesty and its commitment to preserving standards across all faculties.

In a related development, the university has announced the establishment of a Centre for Equipment Maintenance, designed to improve the upkeep and performance of academic and research tools.

The centre will be responsible for preventive maintenance schedules, equipment repairs, and training programmes for staff and students on proper usage and basic troubleshooting.

Vice-Chancellor Professor Musa Yakasai has approved the appointment of Dr Murtala Dambatta, from the Department of Mechanical Engineering, as the pioneer Director of the centre.

The university hopes that these measures will not only deter future misconduct but also enhance academic excellence through better learning infrastructure.
