The meeting marks a key step in the Federal Government’s effort to strengthen the nation’s security architecture.

The new military leaders arrived around 4 p.m., traveling in a black Mercedes van escorted by a green Toyota Land Cruiser.

In attendance were:

  1. Lt-Gen Olufemi Oluyede – Chief of Defence Staff (replacing Gen. Christopher Musa)
  2. Maj-Gen W. Shaibu – Chief of Army Staff
  3. Rear Admiral I. Abbas – Chief of Naval Staff
  4. Air Vice Marshal S.K. Aneke – Chief of Air Staff
  5. Maj-Gen E.A.P. Undiendeye – Chief of Defence Intelligence (retains position)

The appointments follow sweeping changes in the military hierarchy announced on Friday, October 24, 2025.

According to Sunday Dare, the President’s Special Adviser on Media and Public Communication, Tinubu expressed gratitude to the outgoing service chiefs for their patriotic service and dedicated leadership.

“The President, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, expresses most profound appreciation to the outgoing Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, and the other service chiefs,” the statement read.
