Ayodele Fayose urges PDP reconciliation as he congratulates acting chairman Mohammed Abdulrahman and calls for unity and direction in the party

The former Ekiti State governor said Abdulrahman’s emergence presents an opportunity for the PDP to rediscover its purpose and rebuild confidence among its members after months of leadership turbulence.

Abdulrahman was appointed acting chairman following the suspension of Umar Damagum by the Sam Anyanwu-led faction.

His appointment came after the PDP National Working Committee suspended Anyanwu, National Legal Adviser Kamaldeen Ajibade,

Deputy Legal Adviser Okechukwu Osuoha, and National Organising Secretary Umaru Bature, in compliance with a court order halting the party’s planned national convention.

Speaking in Ado-Ekiti on Saturday, Fayose said the PDP must now look inward to resolve its internal crisis and reposition itself as a credible opposition force.

“I congratulate the new chairman of the PDP, Alhaji Mohammed Abdulrahman. I urge him to unite the party and restore confidence in its members,” Fayose said.

“There is no better time to give the PDP a new direction than now. The party must heal from within if it hopes to reclaim its place in Nigeria’s political landscape.”

He further advised Abdulrahman to address what he described as “injustices and irregularities” affecting several state chapters, including Ekiti, in line with the party’s constitution and court rulings.

The Ayodele Fayose urges PDP reconciliation call underscores the growing concern among senior party figures over the deepening internal rifts that have weakened the PDP’s effectiveness as Nigeria’s main opposition platform.
