Bryan Mbeumo continued his fine scoring run with another goal for Manchester United before leading Cameroon into a crucial World Cup playoff this week.

Bryan Mbeumo kept up his red-hot form at the weekend, scoring his fourth goal in as many matches as Manchester United drew 2-2 with Tottenham Hotspur in a pulsating Premier League encounter.

The 26-year-old Cameroon international opened the scoring in the 32nd minute, heading home a deft cross from Amad Diallo past Spurs goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario. The goal marked Mbeumo’s sixth of the season and further underlined his growing influence since his summer move from Brentford.

Mbeumo’s recent surge has come at a crucial time, with the forward set to spearhead Cameroon’s attack in this week’s 2026 FIFA World Cup African play-offs. The Indomitable Lions face the Democratic Republic of Congo in Rabat on Thursday, with the winner set to meet either Gabon or Nigeria three days later for a coveted intercontinental play-off spot next March.

Elsewhere in England, Senegal’s Idrissa Gueye played a decisive role in Everton’s 2-0 victory over Fulham, scoring deep into first-half stoppage time to set the Toffees on their way.

Meanwhile, Ivory Coast midfielder Ibrahim Sangare netted his first goal for Nottingham Forest in a vital 3-1 win over Leeds, ending Forest’s long wait for a second league victory this season.

Across Europe, several African stars were also on target. In Germany, teenage Ivorian sensation Yan Diomande struck early for RB Leipzig, though his side fell 3-1 to Hoffenheim.

In France, Gabon’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang continued his renaissance, finding the net in Marseille’s 3-0 win over Brest — a result that briefly lifted them to the top of Ligue 1. Mali’s Mamadou Sangare also impressed for Lens, scoring in a 4-1 triumph at Monaco.

As Cameroon turn their focus to Rabat, Bryan Mbeumo’s sharpness in front of goal will be crucial. His confidence and consistency could prove the difference as the Indomitable Lions chase a place on football’s grandest stage once again.
