RC Ikeja Township adopts Community Primary School, Bioyin as its first Rotakid School, providing prizes, infrastructure support and scholarships.

Rotary Club of Ikeja Township on November 19, 2025, formally adopted Community Primary School, Bioyin, as its first Rotakid School during the school’s annual inter house sports competition in Lagos.

The club was appointed grand patron of the event, marking a major step in its commitment to education and youth development.

The adoption ceremony featured a variety of activities, including a march past, track races, games and dance competitions for pupils, teachers and parents.

Cash prizes were awarded to the top three pupil dancers, while house banners, trophies and medals were presented to the best performing students across Primary 1 to Primary 6.

A highlight of the day was the award of a scholarship to Primary 3 pupil Fatoye Amos Olushayo.

The scholarship, sponsored by the United President of the club, Rtn. Ariyike Olukayode Elegbede, covers tuition and essential educational needs throughout his primary education.

Fatoye, an orphan under the care of his grandmother, received the unexpected support with visible emotion, adding a deeply human moment to the event.

Speaking during the ceremony, Rotary Club Vice President and President Elect, Rtn. Victor Ojelabi, commended the dedication of teachers, the support of parents and the energy and sportsmanship of the pupils.

He reaffirmed the club’s commitment to education, health and youth development, promising ongoing support for the school through impactful initiatives.

As part of the adoption programme, RC Ikeja Township announced plans to provide desks and chairs for teachers and construct a drainage system to address recurring flooding at the school.

These interventions follow an assessment of the school’s most urgent infrastructure needs.
