Kebbi Police issue a state protest warning, urging groups to halt planned demonstrations following the school abduction in Danko Wasagu

The Kebbi State Police Command has issued a firm state protest warning, asking groups and NGOs to suspend plans for demonstrations following the recent abduction at the Government Girls Comprehensive Secondary School in Maga.

In a statement released on Friday, police spokesman Nafiu Abubakar said the security atmosphere remained too fragile for any form of public gathering.

He warned that a protest at this moment could heighten tension and potentially trigger violence at a time when calm is desperately needed.

Abubakar acknowledged that residents were distressed by the kidnappings but described the planned demonstration as misguided and counterproductive.

He explained that such action could obstruct the ongoing rescue operations being carried out by security agencies working to ensure the safe return of the abducted students.

The Command reassured the public that safeguarding lives and maintaining order remained its highest priority.

It urged citizens to report suspicious movements immediately to the nearest police station or any recognised security outfit.

The caution followed a deadly attack on the school in Danko Wasagu Local Government Area earlier in the week. Armed men reportedly moved through the area unhindered, sparking widespread fear.

During the assault, the Vice Principal, Malam Hassan Makuku, was shot dead while attempting to shield the students from harm.

Residents say the attackers operated with alarming ease, leaving communities shaken and anxious about further threats.
