Mbappe Real Madrid win headline as the forward scores four to seal a dramatic 4-3 Champions League victory over Olympiacos

The Mbappe Real Madrid win dominated Champions League headlines on Wednesday after Kylian Mbappe produced a sensational four-goal performance to help Real Madrid edge Olympiacos 4-3 in a dramatic encounter in Greece.

The victory ends Madrid’s three-match winless run across all competitions and restores momentum in their European campaign.

Olympiacos struck first when Chiquinho fired home a crisp effort from 20 yards, completing a well-worked move that sent the home crowd into early celebrations.

However, the night quickly turned into a showcase of world-class attacking flair as Mbappe took control of proceedings.

The France captain drew Madrid level on 22 minutes, racing onto a sublime pass from Vinicius Junior before drilling the ball through the legs of goalkeeper Kostas Tzolakis.

Just two minutes later, Mbappe powered a low header into the corner from an inviting Arda Guler cross, turning the scoreline in Madrid’s favour.

He completed his hat-trick barely moments after, sprinting clear and steering past Tzolakis again.

His treble, scored in six minutes and forty-two seconds, became the second-fastest hat-trick in Champions League history, surpassed only by Mohamed Salah’s record for Liverpool in 2022.

Olympiacos refused to fade, with substitute Mehdi Taremi pulling one back early in the second half with a sharp header beyond stand-in goalkeeper Andriy Lunin, who replaced the ill Thibaut Courtois.

Madrid had never won away to Greek opposition in seven previous attempts, but Mbappe ensured that statistic was rewritten.

The forward completed his extraordinary night by tapping in his fourth goal after excellent build-up play from Vinicius down the left flank.

That strike took Mbappe to nine goals in five Champions League matches this season, pushing him three clear of Victor Osimhen in the race for the competition’s Golden Boot.

Ayoub El Kaabi narrowed the gap once again late in the game, but Madrid held firm during the closing stages to secure their fourth win in five group matches, bouncing back from their previous defeat away at Liverpool.
