NYSC issues social media warning to Corps members, urging positive content and adherence to camp rules across orientation programmes

The National Youth Service Corps has cautioned Corps members against negative use of social media, urging them to create content that positively reflects both the Scheme and Nigeria, Director General Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu said on Friday.

The warning came during his address to the 2025 Batch ‘C’ Corps members at the NYSC Delta State Orientation Camp.

Brigadier General Nafiu emphasised that any social media posts deemed harmful or negative could attract sanctions.

He also advised Corps members to avoid unauthorised travel and to follow all camp instructions closely.

“Follow simple instructions, be obedient, go for your biometrics and Community Development Service. Learn and respect the cultural values of your host communities and do not misrepresent us at your place of primary assignment,” Brigadier General Nafiu said.

Earlier, NYSC Delta State Coordinator John Kwaghe presented a camp situation report, noting that 2,101 Corps members — 944 male and 1,157 female — had been deployed to the state.

He added that camp activities were progressing smoothly, with full participation from both officials and Corps members, who displayed a high level of discipline.

Brigadier General Nafiu has previously called on Corps members to embody the core values of the Scheme — integrity, efficiency, transparency, and commitment — throughout their service year and beyond.

He urged them to demonstrate patriotism and ensure that their actions reflect positively on both the NYSC and Nigeria.
