Shettima honours Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi as the Vice President represents President Tinubu at the cleric’s funeral prayer in Bauchi
Vice President Kashim Shettima arrived at Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa International Airport in Bauchi on 28 November 2025 to represent President Bola Tinubu at the funeral prayer of the renowned Islamic scholar, the late Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi.

Shettima’s visit followed the cleric’s passing on Thursday, a loss that drew widespread tributes from across Nigeria’s religious and political communities.
The Vice President travelled to the city to join thousands of sympathisers, senior religious figures and top government officials for the burial conducted in accordance with Islamic rites.
National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu accompanied Shettima on the visit, alongside Minister of Information Idris Mohammed.
The delegation also included Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare Ali Pate and Minister of Foreign Affairs Yusuf Tuggar, reflecting the breadth of the administration’s representation.
Senator Abdul’aziz Yari, Senator Shehu Buba and former Bauchi State Governor Ahmed Mu’azu were among other prominent figures present.
Many attendees described the gathering as a powerful testament to the cleric’s influence and the unifying role he played over decades of scholarship and community service.
