OYSCATECH fake AI image sparks panic as college warns public, dismissing claims of militant presence and confirming campus safety
The management of the Oyo State College of Agriculture and Technology, Igboora, has issued a strong warning after a OYSCATECH fake AI image depicting militants at the institution’s entrance went viral, causing unnecessary fear among students and residents.

In a statement released on Saturday by the Deputy Registrar, Public and Alumni Relations, Opeyemi Olawore, the college condemned the image as false, misleading and capable of inciting unwarranted panic.
The institution described the circulating photo as a “false and cruel post” created by mischief makers with unknown motives.
The management reaffirmed that OYSCATECH is neither under attack nor under any form of siege, stressing that both academic and administrative activities remain uninterrupted.
Students, it said, have continued attending lectures and carrying out their normal duties without disruption.
As further proof of normalcy, the college highlighted its first-ever matriculation ceremony for degree programmes held on Friday, which drew parents and visitors from within and outside Oyo State.
The peaceful event, the statement noted, shows the institution remains secure.
“Members of the public are hereby notified to desist from circulating any false AI-generated picture that is misleading about the institution, as anyone caught will surely be made to face the wrath of the law,” the statement warned.
The clarification comes amid heightened concerns about school safety following multiple abductions across the country.
Earlier this month, dozens of worshippers kidnapped in Kwara State were released after days in captivity, renewing debates about insecurity.
In Kebbi State, pupils abducted from their schools were also freed after negotiations, adding to a recent wave of school-related attacks.
These incidents have prompted some Northern states and school authorities to review safety measures and, in certain cases, temporarily close vulnerable schools.

In this climate of anxiety, institutions like OYSCATECH have been forced to confront misinformation, including AI-generated images, to prevent fear from spreading among students, parents and the wider public.
