The Nigeria Football Federation has denied reports claiming FIFA rejected Nigeria’s appeal against the Democratic Republic of Congo.

The appeal concerns the alleged use of ineligible players during their World Cup playoff clash.
NFF Secretary General, Dr Mohammed Sanusi, said FIFA has not communicated any decision to the federation.
Sanusi spoke during an interview on African Independent Television on Saturday.
“The Nigeria Football Federation wrote a petition to FIFA on player eligibility,” Sanusi said.
“If there is anything, FIFA will reply to the NFF.”
He stated that the federation has checked all official communication channels.
“We have checked our emails and received no letter from FIFA,” he said.
Sanusi questioned the source of the reports circulating online.
“I don’t know where they got the information from,” he added.
“Unless they have someone in FIFA giving them unofficial updates.”
Nigeria lost the playoff final 4–3 on penalties after a 1–1 draw in November.
The defeat denied the Super Eagles a place in the 2026 World Cup intercontinental playoffs.
The NFF insisted its petition remains under review.

It maintained that no official response has been received from FIFA.
