A high-capacity commercial bus caught fire on the Third Mainland Bridge on Tuesday afternoon, disrupting traffic towards Iyana Oworo in Lagos State.

The incident occurred near the Adekunle axis of the bridge at about 1:00 p.m., according to the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority.
LASTMA confirmed the development in posts on its official X account, noting that the burning bus affected traffic flow on the bridge.
“A high-capacity bus is on fire on the Third Mainland Bridge, by Adekunle, inwards Iyana Oworo, affecting traffic,” the authority stated.
It added that officers were on ground managing the traffic situation while efforts were underway to extinguish the fire.
A later update confirmed that personnel of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service were actively battling the blaze.
No casualties have been reported as of the time of filing this report.
The cause of the fire remains unknown.

The Third Mainland Bridge, which spans 11.8 kilometres, carries heavy daily traffic and often experiences disruptions from accidents and vehicle breakdowns.
