The announcement was made by Colonel Appolonia Anele, Acting Director of Army Public Relations, on Wednesday.

The groundbreaking ceremony, held on Tuesday, was led by Ebonyi State Governor Dr. Francis Nwifuru, who expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General W. Shaibu, for approving the project.

“The facility will enhance recruitment opportunities and promote increased participation of youths from Ebonyi State and the South-East region in serving their fatherland through the Nigerian Army,” Governor Nwifuru said.

Representing the Chief of Army Staff, Major General Oluremi Fadairo commended the host communities for their cooperation and noted that the depot aligns with the President’s vision for equitable distribution of military infrastructure and inclusive representation.

“The establishment of this additional training depot ensures equitable distribution of military infrastructure and provides greater opportunities for youths in the South-East to enlist in the Nigerian Army and serve the nation with pride,” Major General Fadairo said.

The ceremony included the formal handover of land documents and the symbolic laying of foundation blocks by the Governor and the COAS representative.
