Tacha demands legal action in Mirabel rape allegation case

Tacha Mirabel rape allegation comment sparks debate as she urges authorities to penalise Mirabel if investigations confirm false claims

Nigerian media personality Natasha Akide, popularly known as Tacha, has called for decisive action in the ongoing Mirabel rape allegation case, stating that authorities must impose penalties if investigations confirm the claim was false.

Tacha made the remarks on her X handle while reacting to developments surrounding the case involving Mirabel, whose allegation has generated intense public debate.

Addressing the controversy, Tacha warned about the grave consequences of false accusations. She said unproven or fabricated claims could undermine genuine victims of sexual assault and embolden those who dismiss such reports.

Tacha stated that if it is conclusively established that Mirabel lied, law enforcement agencies should ensure she faces appropriate consequences.

She argued that equal accountability would send a strong message against misinformation.

“Now that it has been established that Mirabel lied about the allegation, I expect the police and agencies in charge of handling such cases to make sure she is penalised,” she wrote.

She added that society must not allow false claims to empower offenders or silence real victims.

Despite her firm stance, Tacha emphasised that the outcome of the Mirabel case would not change her approach to future allegations.

She maintained that she would continue to believe and support women who come forward with claims of sexual assault.

“Don’t think Mirabel has made it hard for me not to believe the next victim. If another woman comes out tomorrow, I will still believe her,” she added.

The Tacha Mirabel rape allegation reaction has since triggered mixed responses online, with supporters praising her consistency and critics debating the tone of her comments.

Authorities are yet to issue a final public report on the matter as investigations continue.
