Fido apologises after backlash, owning mistakes and promising growth, humility, and a more grateful approach to fans and peers

Fast-rising Afrobeats artist Fido has publicly apologised following backlash over recent comments and actions, acknowledging missteps and offering a candid reflection on the pressures of sudden fame.

In a message directed at fans and the wider Afrobeats community, Fido admitted that rapid stardom arrived before he was fully prepared for the scrutiny it entails.

“There’s no easy way to write this, so I’ll just say it plainly. I messed up,” he said, emphasising accountability over excuses.

The singer confessed that he “said things that should never have been said” and allowed “ego, excitement, and inexperience” to influence some decisions. He stressed that these moments do not represent the person he aspires to become.

Fido extended his apology to fans who support his music and advocate for him online, as well as to the Afrobeats community, including established artists who paved the way for emerging talents like himself.

“I am still learning and evolving. I have internalised the lessons and my forthcoming music will reveal a deeper and more grateful version of myself,” Fido added, signalling a commitment to growth.

Ending his message with determination, he declared: “This is growth. This is maturity. This is me doing better. It’s game time again.”

Social media discussions continue to react to Fido’s apology, though the overall tone has shifted toward reflection and reconciliation.

Observers note that the impact of this moment will depend on his actions moving forward, not just his words.
