A heated online exchange has erupted between Aproko Doctor and former Lagos governorship candidate Babatunde Gbadamosi over the introduction of Lenacapavir, a new HIV prevention injection in Nigeria, sparking debate over public health, misinformation, and vaccine conspiracy theories

A heated social media exchange has erupted between popular Nigerian health influencer, Dr Chinoso Egemba, widely known as Aproko Doctor, and former Lagos governorship candidate, Babatunde Gbadamosi, following the introduction of Lenacapavir, a long-acting HIV prevention injection, into Nigeria.

The controversy began after Dr Egemba announced on X that the drug had finally arrived in the country, describing it as a major breakthrough in HIV prevention.

In his post, he outlined key facts Nigerians should know before taking the injection, stressing that it does not prevent pregnancy or other sexually transmitted infections, does not cure HIV, requires users to test negative before administration, and should only be obtained from verified health facilities to avoid counterfeit products.

However, Gbadamosi responded with a strongly worded post, accusing Dr Egemba of promoting harmful pharmaceutical interests and advancing what he described as population control agendas.

He linked the medication to billionaire philanthropist Bill Gates, raised conspiracy theories involving vaccine safety in Africa, and warned Nigerians to avoid the injection. He wrote:

This @aproko_doctor character is a shameless, conscienceless DEATH MERCHANT masquerading as a doctor.

He is friends with Bill Gates, whose aide is recorded as having conversations with Jeffrey Epstein about how to kill poor people. Fun Fact: Nigeria has more poor people than any other country in the world.

Bill Gates is also known to have expressed publicly, the fallacious opinion that Africa is overpopulated, and has been caught hiding sterilising substances in his “vaccines” in Kenya. Another fun fact: Nigeria is Africa’s most populous country.

Chinomso Egemba is pretty much a modern day African slave trader with a title. A shameless, greedy, gutless, gormless and clueless traitor to his own people and his own race, all for a few shekels.

If this vaccine is that good, why not administer it to every American first. Has Egemba taken it? Have members of his family taken it?

Has Bill Gates, with his known predilection for child prostitutes on Epstein’s Island, taken it to protect himself?

If you have any braincells between your ears, as a Nigerian, you would avoid this like the plague, because it is most likely worse than the actual plague.

A word should be enough for the wise.

In his rebuttal, Dr Egemba dismissed the claims as misinformation, describing them as recycled conspiracy theories that have repeatedly been debunked by scientists and global health bodies.

He stressed that Lenacapavir is strictly a preventive medication, not a vaccine or cure, and that its purpose is to significantly reduce new HIV infections, especially among high-risk populations.

It is important to clarify that Bill Gates and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation did not manufacture Lenacapavir. The drug was developed and produced by U.S. biopharmaceutical company Gilead Sciences.

The Gates Foundation’s involvement is limited to funding research support, facilitating large-scale clinical trials, and supporting global access programmes aimed at making the medication affordable and accessible in low- and middle-income countries, particularly across Africa.

Through partnerships with international health agencies, the foundation helps subsidise costs, enable generic production, and expand distribution, ensuring that life-saving HIV prevention tools reach populations most at risk.

Dr Egemba further emphasised that decades of public health data show that preventive medicine and vaccination have dramatically reduced disease-related deaths in Nigeria and across Africa, warning that misinformation could undermine progress made in combating infectious diseases.

Good afternoon Mr Gbadamosi.

Everytime you try to show how “smart” you are, you indirectly make yourself a case study for cognitive decline.

You’re the perfect example of “empty cans making the loudest noise”

You simply just recycled WhatsApp conspiracies and added a “word to the wise.” so you can cosplay as smart, but you’re not. With all due respect sir.

You have managed to pack more debunked fiction into a single post than all our “action films” put together. I hope your family sits you down and stops you from making a fool of yourself ALL the time.

While you’re busy Cosplaying as a revolutionary against “death merchants,” the rest of us are busy ensuring your children don’t die of preventable diseases.

Your type of stupidity is the only plague here for which we haven’t yet found a vaccine.

That said, this is not a vaccine, It was clear in that post.

It’s always the ones who think they’ve “cracked the code” that end up repeating a 2014 WhatsApp broadcast. You’ve packed an entire library of debunked fiction into one post. Mr Gbadamosi again, please let’s use some actual brain cells to look at the facts.

1. The Kenya “sterilization” claim was debunked a decade ago. Independent labs and the WHO found that the HCG results were a laboratory artifact, the vials were tested in labs meant for human blood/urine, not vaccine samples. Meanwhile, that same tetanus vaccine has helped slash Nigerian newborn deaths by nearly half since 1990. The information is out there, but you’re too stupid to see it.

2. Nigeria does have high poverty rates (projected to hit 62% by late 2026), but your logic is a paradox. If I were a “slave trader” or “death merchant,” why would I spend my life advocating for the very tools that keep our people alive and productive? Dead people don’t build nations. But you’re too blind to see it.

3. If this is the logic you use for politics just resign, because the only thing your brain is useful for at this point is crossing the road and you still need someone to hold your hand. That’s what I am doing now. Please stop disgracing yourself.

4. Science is about outcomes. While you’re busy cosplaying as a revolutionary, we’re busy making sure the next generation survives to ignore your threads.
You’re loud and the best things voices like yours can do is advocate for tools that work.

If you want to learn more about the medication I posted, please reread that thread again, you can go to the nearest Primary school so the pupils there can help you understand it better.

Do enjoy what is left of your day. If I were you though, I would start getting checked for dementia, cos you’re showing the signs.

The exchange quickly gained traction online, triggering intense debate, with many users backing Dr Egemba’s science-based explanations, while others echoed Gbadamosi’s scepticism towards pharmaceutical interventions.

Public health experts have repeatedly warned that misinformation surrounding vaccines and preventive medicine poses serious risks, particularly in countries with high disease burdens.

Nigeria remains one of the countries with the highest HIV prevalence rates in West Africa, making effective prevention strategies critical to national health planning.
