The development was first fuelled by social media speculation after a video shared by Nigerian socialite Rahman Jago showed Burna Boy using the Arabic phrase “Alhamdulillah,” meaning “Praise be to God.”
The short clip quickly circulated online, prompting discussions about whether the singer had formally embraced Islam.
Former presidential aide Bashir Ahmad noted that while some associates of the artiste suggested he had converted, there had been no official confirmation.
However, Burna Boy publicly confirmed his faith during a livestream on Plaueboymax, where he also shared his perspective on the creation of the universe.
Fans and followers of the singer have expressed mixed reactions to the announcement, with many congratulating him while others expressed curiosity about his views on spiritual matters.
Observers have noted that Burna Boy had previously used Islamic expressions in songs and public appearances, which contributed to earlier speculation about his faith.
