Kikelomo Atanda-Owo reveals past marriages, saying she divorced twice before marrying Reuben Abati and found healing after hardship

Kikelomo Atanda-Owo, media entrepreneur and wife of veteran journalist and public affairs commentator Reuben Abati, has revealed that she was divorced twice before marrying him in 2020, describing her earlier unions as painful but transformative experiences.

Speaking during an appearance on the The Morayo Show, Kikelomo Atanda-Owo disclosed that her first marriage ended after she discovered that her husband was gay, a reality she said she had been unaware of at the time of the union. She explained that her second marriage was marked by abuse and infidelity.

Kikelomo Atanda-Owo reveals past marriages in a candid conversation that touched on love, betrayal and resilience. According to her, the experiences reshaped her understanding of self-worth and relationships.

“I’m a woman who has been divorced twice. I allowed it the best way I could. I’ve been burnt, but my scars have healed, and I’ve found victory,” she said.

“In that victory, there is healing first. So you must first see yourself before you can align with someone else.”

Reflecting on her journey, she expressed profound gratitude for her children, describing them as the greatest blessings to emerge from those challenging seasons of her life.

“When I look at my children, I say to myself, how better would I have had the children if not through these experiences? God blessed me with the greatest investment of my life,” she added.

Kikelomo Atanda-Owo reveals past marriages not to condemn others, she stressed, but to encourage honesty and accountability in relationships.

While clarifying that she does not judge anyone for their sexual orientation, she emphasised that transparency is essential, warning that deception can leave deep emotional wounds.

Offering advice to both women and men, she underscored the importance of self-awareness and compatibility.

Love alone, she argued, is not enough to sustain a marriage. Individuals must align with partners who understand their journey and purpose.

She also urged those in abusive relationships to seek help and to hold on to hope, insisting that healing and happiness remain possible even after severe hardship.
