Korede Fasoyin debunks the Deborah Fasoyin Death Rumour, confirming the ‘Odun N Lo Sopin’ gospel singer is alive after false reports spread online

Korede Fasoyin, son of veteran gospel singer Deborah Fasoyin of the Christ Apostolic Church, has dismissed viral reports claiming that his mother is dead, describing the claim as false and misleading.

The rumour circulated widely on social media on Monday, with several posts displaying Mama Fasoyin’s photograph alongside “RIP” inscriptions.

The posts triggered an outpouring of condolence messages from fans and well-wishers across Nigeria and abroad.

Reacting to the claim, Korede Fasoyin insisted that the reports were completely untrue and assured the public that the respected gospel singer remains alive.

“My mother is alive. The news of her death is fake. We are already doing a video for her to speak,” Korede Fasoyin said.

Korede Fasoyin revealed that the family began receiving numerous phone calls shortly after the rumour surfaced online, with concerned individuals seeking confirmation from different parts of the world.

“I started receiving calls from outside Nigeria and within Nigeria since midnight, asking if she was dead. I don’t know the mischievous person who posted that without verifying,” he said.

Deborah Fasoyin, who celebrated her 86th birthday on March 1, 2026, remains a revered figure in Nigerian gospel music.

She is widely known for the timeless Yoruba gospel song Odun n lo Sopin, a powerful hymn that continues to influence generations of church music lovers.

Her music ministry has played a significant role in shaping gospel music within Nigerian churches, particularly among worshippers in the Christ Apostolic Church tradition.
