JUST IN: EFCC seals Abubakar Malami residence in Abuja raid

EFCC Abubakar Malami residence raid sees operatives seal Maitama home in Abuja amid ongoing investigation into alleged improprieties

On Tuesday, March 24, 2026, operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission moved to take over the Maitama residence of former Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, in Abuja, sealing off the property amid an ongoing investigation.

The operatives, reportedly led by Folarin Dare, arrived in about five buses and were dressed in the agency’s red and black jackets.

Armed personnel barricaded the road leading to the residence, restricting access to the area.

The property, located at No. 2 Koranakh Close, off Amazon Street in Maitama, remained inaccessible as the EFCC enforced a tight security perimeter.

Residents and passers-by were prevented from approaching the premises during the operation.

Sources indicated that the decisive move forms part of a broader probe into alleged financial improprieties linked to the former minister.

However, officials of the commission have yet to release an official statement detailing the scope of the investigation.

The development has drawn attention due to Malami’s high-profile role in previous administrations, raising fresh questions about accountability and the intensifying anti-corruption drive in Nigeria.

Further details are expected to emerge as the investigation progresses.
