Nigerian Army Bauchi Offensive intensifies as troops destroy bandit camps, neutralise fighters, and disrupt criminal operations in Bauchi State
Troops of the Nigerian Army have intensified counter banditry operations in Bauchi State, destroying several criminal hideouts, including the notorious Azuge and Hari camps, in a sustained offensive aimed at dismantling armed networks operating in the region.

Nigerian Army Bauchi Offensive was carried out by personnel of the 33 Artillery Brigade in collaboration with the Office of the National Security Adviser, with coordinated clearance operations targeting enclaves within the Dajin Madam Forest.
A report from Army Headquarters in Abuja on Wednesday confirmed that the operation led to the neutralisation of several suspected bandits, while others reportedly fled under heavy military pressure.
“Troops have neutralised a number of bandits during the operation, while others fled under sustained military pressure,” the report stated.
During the raid, troops also took custody of 19 family members of the suspected bandits, including six women and 13 children. Several motorcycles believed to have been used for mobility by the criminals were destroyed to further restrict their movement and operational capacity.
Security operatives recovered a range of items, including an AK-47 magazine, packs of tramadol, police and military uniforms, and two horses, raising concerns over attempts by the armed groups to impersonate security personnel.
The Army said troops have since established a firm presence in the forest to consolidate operational gains and prevent regrouping by fleeing elements.
In a follow-up operation in Mainamaji, conducted to exploit the impact of recent airstrikes on bandit positions, troops reportedly made no contact, an indication, according to the Army, that sustained pressure is weakening the criminals’ presence in the area.

It also urged residents to support ongoing security efforts by providing timely and credible intelligence to assist troops in the field.
