The organisation stated in a letter dated 22 April 2026 that it was acting on instructions from Mayowa Lambe in response to what it described as “malicious defamation, false public narratives, and deliberate reputational damage.”
The foundation, which provides counselling, rehabilitation, and legal support services, alleged that Mr. Ekpo made repeated public comments on media platforms, including interviews, which it claims contained false allegations about his past relationship with Ms. Lambe.
It further stated that the relationship between both parties was mutually terminated with family consent prior to 11 May 2025, stressing that no marital relationship currently exists.
The letter accused Mr. Ekpo of making statements relating to infidelity, financial dependence, and moral character, which it described as false and damaging to Ms. Lambe’s reputation.
It also alleged that continued public commentary had resulted in online harassment and reputational harm, claiming to hold evidence such as financial records, communications, and medical-related documents contradicting the public narrative.
The cease and desist notice demanded an immediate stop to all alleged defamatory publications, removal of existing content, a public retraction, and an unqualified apology across the same platforms used for the statements.
It also demanded ₦100 million in damages, warning that failure to comply within three days would trigger legal proceedings, including injunctive relief and criminal complaints.
The letter was signed by Chinedu Nwaneli Esq. on behalf of the foundation, based in Lagos State.
