The EFCC is grilling self-acclaimed prophet Godwin Sunday Ajuluchukwucheya over alleged Enugu prophet fraud involving N70.3 million from church members through fake miracle products and lottery schemes

Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission Enugu Zonal Directorate led by its officials, petitioner Okey Uwakwe, and self-acclaimed prophet Godwin Sunday Ajuluchukwucheya also known as Prophet Sunday Koboko confronted serious allegations in Enugu on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, as the anti-graft agency commenced investigations into claims that the cleric defrauded his church members of substantial sums.

Godwin Sunday Ajuluchukwucheya reportedly presented himself as a powerful spiritual figure capable of performing miracles, including luring a petitioner’s brother back from abroad and helping a childless woman conceive.

He allegedly collected millions of naira for these spiritual interventions, yet delivered no results.

The petitioner claimed further losses after the suspect announced a supposed N33 billion lottery win and urged members to contribute for dividends.

Additional investments were sought for a purported N1 billion rice processing venture.

Investigations revealed the suspect sold items such as miracle stickers, spiritual dragons, and holy ghost thunder to desperate congregants seeking breakthroughs.

Multiple church members have since come forward with similar accounts, pushing the total alleged fraud to N70,391,600.

One victim described purchasing large quantities of spiritual items to combat supposed spiritual armies, only to see no change in their circumstances.

This case emerges against a backdrop of growing concerns over religious exploitation in Nigeria, where vulnerable individuals often fall prey to promises of quick miracles amid economic hardship.

Similar past incidents have prompted calls for greater regulation of religious organisations and stronger public awareness campaigns.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has assured that the suspect will face charges once investigations conclude, reflecting its ongoing commitment to tackling fraud across all sectors.

Ajuluchukwucheya maintains his innocence as the probe continues, underscoring the importance of due process in such sensitive matters.
