Veteran broadcaster Kitan Oyesiku and her security guard were tragically killed in her Ogun State home. Police have launched a thorough investigation into the suspected armed invasion

Veteran broadcaster Kitan Oyesiku, a retired presenter with Ogun State Television, and her security guard were found dead inside her residence at Iyana Agodo Village in Ogun State on Sunday 21 June 2026. Neighbours raised the alarm after noticing suspicious activity at the property.

DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, spokesperson for the Ogun State Police Command, confirmed the grim discovery. Police detectives responded swiftly to the report from Owode Egba Division and found signs of forced entry and disturbance at the scene.

The body of the security guard was located at the security post, while Kitan Oyesiku was found inside her apartment. Her vehicle was missing from the premises, raising suspicions of a possible robbery motive.

This incident occurs against a backdrop of rising violent crimes in parts of Ogun State and across Nigeria, where home invasions targeting perceived affluent or retired individuals have become a disturbing trend in recent years. Such attacks often exploit quieter suburban or semi-rural areas.

“The Ogun State Police Command commiserates with the family of the deceased, the Ogun State Television family, the media community, and all those affected by this tragic loss,” DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi stated.

He assured that an intensive investigation is underway to apprehend those responsible.

Secondary moments of community response included neighbours promptly alerting authorities, demonstrating local vigilance amid growing insecurity concerns.

The Ogun State Police Commissioner, CP Bode Ojajuni, has directed a comprehensive probe with expanded surveillance and intelligence operations.
