Anthony Adeniyi Adeosun, husband of former Minister of Finance Kemi Adeosun, died in Lagos State on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, at the age of 62, with his family describing him as a devoted Christian, respected businessman and a man whose life touched many people.

The Adeosun family announced the death in a statement issued by Rev. C. A. Adeosun on behalf of the family, expressing deep sorrow while celebrating the life and legacy of the deceased.

“It is with profound sorrow, yet in total submission to the will of Almighty God, that the Adeosun family announces the passing of our beloved husband, father, and brother, Mr Anthony Adeniyi (Niyi) Adeosun,” the statement read.

The family said Anthony lived a life marked by integrity, generosity and commitment to his faith, family and community.

“He was 62 years old. Niyi was a distinguished businessman and a devoted Christian whose integrity, generosity, and steadfast faith touched the lives of all who knew him,” the statement added.

Anthony Adeosun dies after years of building a reputation as a businessman who valued service and personal relationships.

His family remembered him as someone committed to hard work and supporting those around him.

Kemi Adeosun, who served as Nigeria’s Minister of Finance from 2015 to 2018, is among those mourning his passing alongside their children and extended family members.

The deceased was also the brother of Adewale Adeosun, founder of Kuramo Capital, a private investment firm.

The family quoted a biblical passage for comfort during the mourning period and said arrangements for his funeral and Christian burial would be announced later.

“We thank all who have reached out with prayers, condolences, and support. May his gentle soul rest in perfect peace in the bosom of the Lord,” the family said.

Anthony’s death has drawn attention to the loss of a private figure whose influence, according to those close to him, was felt through his business, faith and commitment to family life.
