The December 28 homecoming edition will bring up to 1,500 children together, with organisers planning lasting donations to beneficiary homes across Lagos

Olubode Mac Oserinde, initiator of the GLOWFUX Charity Concert, on Saturday, August 15, 2026, unveiled ambitious plans for the initiative’s 10th anniversary at the Oshodi Arts Gallery in Lagos, promising a landmark celebration that will combine entertainment, compassion and practical support for vulnerable children.

Themed “A Decade of Changing Lives, One Story at a Time,” the GLOWFUX @ 10 Homecoming Edition is scheduled for December 28, 2026, marking a decade since the annual end-of-year charity concert was established to give children from orphanages, rehabilitation centres and other organised needy homes an opportunity to experience joy beyond their everyday circumstances.

At the media briefing, Oserinde reflected on how what began in 2016 as a modest gesture towards children in orphanages has grown into a wider humanitarian movement supported by individuals, families and organisations.

Over the years, more than 25 homes across Lagos State have benefited from the initiative’s activities.

The programme has taken children beyond conventional donations of food and clothing, creating opportunities for recreation at places including beaches, cinemas and the National Museum.

For Oserinde, that distinction remains central to the philosophy behind GLOWFUX.

He said meaningful charity should involve personal sacrifice rather than simply giving what is convenient.

The 2026 edition is expected to accommodate a maximum of 1,500 children from beneficiary homes, alongside at least 1,000 adults and family members. Oserinde described the gathering as a carnival of sorts, reflecting the scale organisers hope to achieve for the anniversary.

But the organisers intend for the 10th anniversary to leave something tangible behind after the music and festivities have ended.

Plans are underway to donate major household and power-related items, including generators, washing machines and solar power systems, to beneficiary homes.

“We want to do something remarkable so that when they take them home to their respective homes they will always remember that GLOWFUX celebrated 10 years with them with this item,” Oserinde said.

The proposed donations represent a shift towards creating longer-term value for participating homes, rather than limiting the anniversary to a single day of celebration.

The emphasis on lasting impact also reflects the broader direction of the Bundle of Hope Child Care and Empowerment Foundation, which oversees GLOWFUX and has expanded its work around child welfare, empowerment and community outreach.

The foundation’s structure was strengthened in 2024 with the inauguration of a Board of Trustees and Advisory Board, alongside plans for quarterly outreach and support for organised needy homes.

The latest anniversary plans build on a ninth edition that brought more than 1,200 people together in 2025 and demonstrated how the initiative had developed from relatively quiet outreach activities into a larger platform for child welfare and community engagement.

The 2025 edition also showed the practical possibilities of the programme. GLOWFUX has previously created opportunities for children to receive educational support, while activities at earlier editions have included games, entertainment, family recreation and visits to cultural and recreational venues.

Miss Chisom, Head of Media for GLOWFUX, said the anniversary theme was shaped by the many stories of transformation associated with the project over the past decade.

She urged media organisations to look beyond covering the December celebration and help sustain attention around the initiative throughout the year.

Her appeal comes as organisers seek additional sponsors, donors and institutional partners to support the expanding programme and its beneficiaries.

The anniversary campaign has already attracted new interest from the creative sector.

In July, Oshodi Art Gallery announced support for the GLOWFUX @ 10 Theme Song Challenge, adding to the financial backing available to the competition.

The theme song challenge is one of several activities designed to build momentum ahead of the December celebration.

Earlier anniversary plans also included media engagements, visits to orphanages, a novelty football match and other initiatives aimed at increasing awareness and mobilising support.

Another distinctive part of the GLOWFUX story is its Young Ambassadors programme. Seventeen children were recognised during the briefing as ambassadors who use their personal influence and networks to help mobilise support for the project.

The organisers also acknowledged longstanding partners, including Impact News, Peak Milk and Kingsmead Group of Schools, for their contributions to previous editions.

Registration for GLOWFUX 2026 is now open online, while prospective guests are expected to support the initiative by bringing gifts such as clothing, food, educational materials, toys, games or household equipment.

Donation channels have also been opened ahead of the December 28 celebration, allowing individuals and organisations to contribute throughout the build-up to the anniversary.

The evolution of GLOWFUX has been gradual. Its early focus on bringing children from needy homes into the festive season has expanded into a broader effort that combines recreation, philanthropy, recognition and community participation.

That journey has also been shaped by challenges. Following the 2025 edition, Oserinde disclosed that organisers had faced uncertainty after the venue initially proposed for the event became unavailable because of reconstruction work.

The team eventually secured an alternative venue and proceeded with the celebration.

For the organisers, the experience appears to have reinforced the importance of partnerships and public support as GLOWFUX enters its second decade.

The December homecoming therefore carries significance beyond the anniversary number.

It is being positioned as a moment to celebrate the children who have been at the centre of the project, recognise those who have sustained it and invite a wider community to participate in its next chapter.

With a target of up to 1,500 children and plans for practical donations to beneficiary homes, GLOWFUX @ 10 is set to turn a decade of charitable activity into a more ambitious expression of its founding message: that giving children moments of dignity, joy and belonging can become a powerful form of community impact.
