Police found the Hindu Yuva Vahini leader’s body in a canal after he was allegedly shot inside his Fortuner, with a land dispute among suspected motives
Hindu Yuva Vahini leader Dhirendra Pratap Singh was shot dead in Lucknow, India, with police later recovering his body from a canal in the Dubagga police station area as investigators examined a possible land dispute and suspected involvement by his driver.

Singh was allegedly killed inside his Toyota Fortuner before his body was dumped into the canal near Dubagga, according to preliminary information reported by India Today.
The discovery has triggered an investigation by Lucknow police, who are working to reconstruct the events surrounding the killing and identify those responsible.
A land dispute is among the possible motives being examined by investigators, although police have not yet established a definitive reason for the murder.
Singh’s driver has also come under suspicion. Investigators are reportedly examining whether the driver colluded with rivals of the Hindu Yuva Vahini leader in planning or carrying out the killing.
Police are expected to question people connected to Singh, including individuals linked to the alleged land dispute, as they seek to determine whether the suspected conflict was directly connected to the murder.
Singh was a leader of the Hindu Yuva Vahini, a pro-Hindu youth organisation founded by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
The organisation has historically been associated with the Uttar Pradesh politician and has been involved in Hindu nationalist activities in the state.
Singh originally hailed from Unnao but had been living in the PGI area of Lucknow.
The circumstances surrounding his final movements remain under investigation.
According to the preliminary account, Singh was inside his Fortuner when the fatal shooting occurred. His body was subsequently taken to the canal area, where it was dumped before being discovered by authorities.
The alleged sequence has left investigators examining whether the killing was premeditated and whether more than one person was involved.
Police have not publicly identified any suspect as responsible for the murder, and the driver’s alleged involvement remains an investigative line rather than an established fact.
Authorities are also examining other possible motives and have not ruled out alternative explanations for the killing.
The investigation comes as police face the task of piecing together the movements of Singh and his vehicle before the body was recovered.
Establishing the timeline could prove crucial in determining who had access to him at the time of the shooting and how his body was transported to the canal.
For now, the land dispute theory remains one of the prominent angles being investigated, while police continue to examine Singh’s personal, professional and property-related connections.
Lucknow police said the investigation would cover all possible angles as officers work to identify those involved and establish the precise circumstances that led to Singh’s death.
The recovery of Singh’s body has brought a grim end to a case that investigators are now attempting to unravel through forensic evidence, witness accounts and questioning of people within his circle.
