President Bola Tinubu has returned to Abuja after spending six days in Lagos following his annual working vacation in Europe.

Tinubu arrived in Lagos on September 29 after spending part of his vacation in London and Paris. He subsequently remained in the state for several days, during which he carried out official engagements and participated in activities marking Nigeria’s 66th Independence Anniversary.

On October 1, the President delivered his Independence Day broadcast to Nigerians, in which he said the country was moving from an “age of reform” into an “age of prosperity.” He also outlined measures focused on reducing the cost of living, improving agricultural production and strengthening infrastructure.

Later that day, Tinubu and First Lady Oluremi Tinubu attended the national premiere of MKO, a documentary on the life, political struggle and legacy of the late Chief Moshood Kashimawo Olawale Abiola and the June 12 pro-democracy struggle. The event was held at the Wole Soyinka Centre for Culture and Creative Arts in Lagos.

The President also visited the Oba of Lagos, Oba Rilwan Akiolu, at the monarch’s Iga Iduganran Palace on Lagos Island during his stay.

Tinubu’s return to Abuja brings to an end his six-day stay in Lagos after his extended working vacation abroad. His departure from Lagos was announced by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, on Monday.

The President had left Nigeria on August 30 for the working vacation, travelling first to London before proceeding to Paris, where he held engagements that included a private meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron and meetings with business leaders.

During his absence from Nigeria, Vice President Kashim Shettima represented him at the 81st United Nations General Assembly in New York.
