A woman and two workers of a guest house in Gwarimpa, Abuja, have been arrested over the death of a man whose body was allegedly removed from the hotel and dumped under Katampe Bridge along the Kubwa Expressway.
The suspects were identified as Mrs Rukayat Muhammed, a resident of Garki Area 2, Abuja, and two guest-house workers, Ibrahim Omeiza and Kefat Bitrus, according to the Federal Capital Territory Police Command. The police said the exact cause of the man’s death had not been established and investigations were continuing.
FCT Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Sanusi, said the case came to light after the man’s family reported him missing. His body was discovered under Katampe Bridge on August 26, 2026, prompting an investigation into his disappearance and the circumstances surrounding his death.
Sanusi said detectives discovered that the deceased’s mobile phone was missing, making it a significant lead in the investigation. Although the phone had been switched off, investigators traced his last known communication to Muhammed.
Further investigation, according to the police, established that Muhammed and the deceased had lodged at Good Samaritan Guest House on Second Avenue, Gwarimpa. The commissioner said the woman told investigators that the man became unresponsive while they were in the room.
Rather than immediately alerting the police, Muhammed allegedly took the man’s phone and left the guest house, Sanusi said.
Several hours later, hotel staff reportedly became concerned when attempts to contact the room’s occupants proved unsuccessful. After gaining access to the room, they discovered the man’s body.
The police alleged that Omeiza and Bitrus removed the body from the guest house and transported it to the Kubwa Expressway near Katampe, where they dumped it under the bridge instead of reporting the discovery to the authorities.
The commissioner said investigators were working to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident, including the cause of death and the roles allegedly played by the three suspects.
He warned that anyone found to have participated in the man’s death or the subsequent concealment and abandonment of his body would face the law.
