The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress in Edo State, Jarrett Tenebe, has declared his personal hatred for the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, Peter Obi, and said he would spit on him if they met.
Tenebe made the remarks during an interview in which he defended the policies of President Bola Tinubu’s administration and explained his earlier controversial “AK-47 fire” comment.
Speaking about opposition presidential candidates, the Edo APC chairman said he would confront them over their criticism of the President.
“If I see them, I will spit in their faces,” he said, referring to Obi and the African Democratic Congress presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.
Asked specifically about Obi, Tenebe insisted that his dislike for the former Anambra State governor was personal and that he stood by it.
“As for Obi, I hate him, and I maintain that. If I see him, I will spit in his face and bite his nose. I will pretend that I want to tell him something, then bite his ear and chew it. Take it like that. I hate him,” he said.
Tenebe accused Obi of being insincere and questioned his political alliance with his running mate, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso. He cited what he described as differences between the two men on certain issues, including alcohol consumption, to challenge their ability to govern together.
“How can he want to be president with someone I consider his oppressor as his running mate? If the two of them cannot agree on what should be in a glass, how can they govern Nigeria?” he asked.
On Atiku, Tenebe said his current objection stemmed from the former Vice-President’s criticism of Tinubu rather than personal hatred.
“I do not like Atiku at the moment because he is insulting the president. But I hate Peter Obi because he is not genuine,” he added.
