President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reaffirmed his commitment to Nigeria’s development, declaring that his determination to build a prosperous nation has grown stronger following his spiritual visit to Saudi Arabia.
The President made the declaration on Monday, November 2, 2026, while reflecting on his performance of the lesser Hajj, known as Umrah, in Makkah, where he was granted the opportunity to enter the Holy Ka’abah and offer prayers.

According to a statement issued by his spokesman, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu expressed gratitude to the Saudi authorities for granting him and members of his Nigerian delegation access to the sacred site.
Tinubu described the opportunity to enter the Ka’abah as a historic and deeply meaningful experience, expressing appreciation to Saudi Arabia’s King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman for granting the delegation access.
He also noted that the green-and-white colours surrounding the sacred structure reminded him of Nigeria’s national identity, describing the gesture as a reflection of the longstanding friendship and cooperation between both countries.
The President disclosed that his prayers focused on obtaining wisdom and resilience to continue serving Nigerians, adding that he believed his supplications had been answered.
He recalled performing Umrah before the 2023 presidential election, when he prayed for Allah’s blessings and promised to return to express gratitude.
Reflecting on Surah Aal-Imran, Verse 26 of the Holy Qur’an, Tinubu emphasised that political authority ultimately belongs to Almighty Allah, who has the power to grant and withdraw leadership positions.
He described political power as a responsibility that must be exercised with humility, accountability and dedication to public welfare.
Tinubu also expressed gratitude for his emergence as Nigeria’s President and Commander-in-Chief, describing the position as a privilege that comes with an enormous responsibility to serve the country.
On the economy, the President expressed optimism about Nigeria’s outlook, describing the foundation laid by his administration as solid and the progress recorded as encouraging.
He said the country’s economy had emerged from a difficult period, adding that the development was inspiring and reinforced his determination to pursue national prosperity.
Tinubu further stressed the importance of investing in young Nigerians, warning that the decisions taken by present leaders would determine how future generations judge their leadership.
He called for greater attention to opportunities for young people, noting that their future must remain central to the country’s development agenda.
The President reiterated that his administration would continue implementing policies and programmes aimed at strengthening the economy, expanding opportunities and creating an environment where Nigerians could realise their potential.
His latest remarks follow his earlier prayers for Nigeria’s peace, unity, stability and economic progress during the Umrah pilgrimage in Makkah.
Also expressing gratitude for the spiritual experience were the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi (SAN), and the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Professor Muhammad Ali Pate.
Governors of Borno, Sokoto, Jigawa, Kaduna, Yobe and Kwara States were also among the members of the Nigerian delegation.
Other prominent participants included BUA Group Chairman, Abdulsamad Rabiu, and Oando Chief Executive Officer, Wale Tinubu.
The delegation reportedly appreciated the opportunity to enter the Holy Ka’abah and offer prayers during the pilgrimage.
