The UK’s biggest Afrobeat promoter and founder of Afro Nation festival, Segun Adeosun Jnr, is bereaved at the moment. He lost his mum.
In an emotional tribute seen by Freelanews, SMADE, as he is fondly known, revealed that his mother passed away few days ago and had since been buried.
“On Sun 14th May 2022, will be known as the saddest day of my life, my life changed forever as I lost my first love, my baby, prayer warrior, my protector and my source of inspiration & motivation my mother. (Buried next day according to Muslim rites)
“It breaks my heart as I share this news that my beautiful Queen, #MamaSMADE is gone to rest, my prayer warrior, my mother has gone to be with the Lord. Her final words were “Ya ALLAH”. A God fearing, hardworking and selfless mother.
“My family & I are lost for words at this difficult time but want to say THANK YOU for the phone calls, text messages and prayers we have received in the last two days, shows how much she impacted a lot of families and people personally. Mama did amazing on all her Children (not just me and my sisters @mzbeamz @brimmy09 but also washed, cleaned, pierced, bathed, nursed, several other children.
“MamaSMADE, You were a Great Leader and Teacher, you always gave me strength, even in my business and you were my guarantor, wake up please, your service just got started. I promise to continue to push your LEGACY of Unity between families and around the world. As you always say to me “Love endlessly” 🙏🏾🤍🕊

SMADE, who moved to London from Lagos 17 years ago when he was 19, is third eldest of 13 children.
Afro Nation festival united more than 20000 people of colour from around the world and was a big win for the continent with thousands of black people at an event with no major trouble with overall great feedback.
SMADE said bad experiences he had in past became lessons which prepared him for Afro Nation and gave him the confidence to persevere when ticketholders started re-selling tickets, and some performers took to social media to announce they had pulled out.
