Dame Ihedioha, the mother of Emeka Ihedioha, former governor of Imo state, is dead. The former governor said his mother died in Abuja on Thursday with her family by her side. The deceased recently celebrated her 90th birthday in August 2022.
“After a fruitful ad eventful life of God’s abundant mercies and grace, our mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Dame Dorothy Nsonma Ihedioha (Nee Okereke) gloriously transited to eternity on Thursday 20th April 2023 in Abuja, with her family by her side,” Ihedioha wrote.

“While we thank God, friends, and well-wishers who identified with us, particularly during our mother’s last days, we enjoin you to remember the family in your prayers.”
On March 28, Ihedioha withdrew from the contest to elect the gubernatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Imo.
Ihedioha, who had been screened and cleared to contest in the party’s primary, cited the need to ensure unity in the state chapter of the PDP as the reason for his withdrawal.
He is a former deputy speaker of the House of Representatives.
