Okwesilieze Nwodo’s soaked in water bread

water bread

'I implore you to stop breeding ethnic divisions'

My dear brother, Governor Okwesilieze Nwodo, you know I have always had immense respect and love for you and your distinguished family so kindly permit me to share some bitter home truths with you.

Firstly you do not speak for the Igbos but only those amongst them that share your ill-advised and unfortunate mindset.

Secondly you will continue to eat the “bread soaked in water” you spoke of as long as you continue to oppose our President-elect and pour scorn on him and our leaders.

Worse of all you will have no bread at all if you continue to attempt to undermine the efforts of your Governor, the great Gburugburu, who despite being in a different political party, many of us love and respect because, unlike you, he is a level-headed, reasonable, rational and calm bridge-builder.

I implore you to stop breeding ethnic divisions in our nation by saying that Igbos are being killed in Lagos, which you know is pure falsehood, and suggesting that they will be excluded, targeted and humiliated under a Tinubu Presidency.

Instead of whining and wailing like a newly-initiated Obidient why not accept defeat in an honorable manner and thereby maintain the respect that many of us that have always looked up to you have for you.

You need to be far more confident in yourself and your heritage and take a cue about how to conduct yourself from notable Igbo leaders like Chimaroke Nnamani, Orji Uzor Kalu, Hope Uzodinma, David Umahi, Charles Soludo, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, Andy Uba, Osita Izunazo, Ikechi Emenike, Uju Kennedy-Ohanenye, Joseph Onoh, Ben Kalu, Chidinma Makuachukwu, Nkeiruka Onyejeocha and so many others.

Your are far too well-informed, well-bred, well-educated, well-endowed, enlightened, cosmopolitan, intellectually astute and civilised to associate with and support ‘base tikes’ (as William Shakespeare would describe them) and ill-born, ill-bred, roguish creatures and low-level intellectual lilliputians and barbarians like Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi.

I remember your late older brother, Dr. Joe Nwodo, who I started politics with in 1990 in the days of the now defunct NRC, with such fondness. He was a brilliant and erudite scholar and a formidable politician and presidential aspirant.

I also remember and have immense affection for your other older brother, Dr. John Nnia Nwodo, the former Minister of Information under the NPN Government, who is still very much alive, who was like a son and protégé of my late father, Chief Remi Fani-Kayode Q.C, SAN, CON and who was the President of Ohaneze up until a few years ago.

What an extraordinary family of great visionaries and well-respected achievers the Nwodo’s are. No-one can rightly dispute this.

I urge you to kindly remember who you are and the great, noble and distinguished lineage that you come from.

I implore you to desist from behaving like Peter Obi and his Obidients who, with their characteristic intransigence, aggression, insolence and arrogance and despite the fact that they do not represent the honor, ‘noblesse oblige’ and heart and soul of N’Digbo or the majority of the people of the east, have succeeded in alienating the great and proud Igbo race from the rest of the country more than at any time in our history since the civil war.

Despite all be rest assured that under Tinubu’s Presidency no Nigerian, whether Igbo or otherwise, will suffer, will be targeted, will be butchered or will be marginalised and our nation shall usher in a new era of peace, joy, unity, stability and prosperity for ALL Nigerians.
