Ethnic Youth Leaders (EYL) have said that unscrupulous political elite who are hell-bent on derailing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s ‘Renewed Hope’ agenda were behind the deliberate media attacks on his Chief of Staff, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, and other key government appointees.

Recall that last week Thursday, a chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun State, Segun Sowunmi, had asserted that President Tinubu should have appointed former Lagos State Governor Babatunde Fashola or former Ogun State Governor Ibikunle Amosun as his Chief of Staff instead of Gbajabiamila.

Sowunmi, who made the assertion during an interview on Channels TV, stated that the two former governors would have given the President exactly what he desired.

But, the Ethnic Youth Leaders, which comprises of socio-cultural groups from the various regions of the country in a joint statement by their leaders, Odoemena Alexander, Patrick Obieri, Ojukwu Celestine, and Yusuf Tijani, knocked Sowunmi, describing him as one of those who wants to derail the President’s agenda.

One of the affiliate groups of EYL, Arewa Youths, in particular, said the President made the right choice in choosing Hon. Gbajabiamila as his Chief of Staff, saying the former Speaker of House of Representatives possessed the requisite qualities and will be a key strength to realisation of Tinubu’s ‘Renewed Hope’ agenda.

The EYL said, “Unscrupulous political elite who are hellbent on derailing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s ‘Renewed Hope’ agenda are behind the deliberate media attacks on his Chief of Staff, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, and other key appointees. Sowunmi assertion is unnecessary and an insult to the capacity, competence, and achievements of the Immediate past Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila.

“We have a man who had in his two decades as a member of the parliament, demonstrated his true passion for issues concerning his constituents and Nigeria as a whole. As a parliamentarian, he understands the yearning of the citizens and how best the executive and legislature can work together to achieve that.”
