ADC condemns killing in Imo State, calling for swift investigation and justice following deaths of party members Esther Chimezie Ijeoma and Ambrose Ndukwe

The African Democratic Congress, Imo State Chapter, has expressed profound grief and concern following the shooting deaths of its woman leader for Amosu Umulolo Ward, Mrs. Esther Chimezie Ijeoma, and Mr. Ambrose Ndukwe, both indigenes of Okigwe Local Government Area, on Friday, January 30, 2026.

The party’s statement, issued on Thursday by Chief Macdonald Amadi, ADC State Publicity Secretary, highlighted the incident as a stark reminder of the ongoing security challenges in Imo State.

Chief Amadi said: “The loss of innocent lives, regardless of political affiliation or background, strikes at the very heart of our shared humanity and calls for sober reflection by all stakeholders.”

He added that citizens’ safety is the foremost responsibility of government, emphasising that recurring violent attacks raise serious questions about the effectiveness and prioritisation of public safety measures.

The ADC demanded proactive leadership, clear strategies, and unwavering commitment to protecting lives. The party called for a comprehensive and transparent investigation into the killings, with findings communicated publicly within a reasonable timeframe.

“In the interest of justice, peace, and public confidence, the swift identification and prosecution of the perpetrators must be pursued in line with the rule of law to discourage future violence,” the statement concluded.
