Africa Magic officially opens 12th AMVCA entries, inviting African filmmakers to submit work celebrating film and TV excellence

Africa Magic, in partnership with MultiChoice, a Canal+ company, has officially opened submissions for the 12th Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA), Africa’s premier platform recognising excellence in film and television.

The call for entries runs from 11 January to 15 February 2026, inviting filmmakers and content creators from across the continent to submit eligible work for consideration.

The 12th AMVCA will showcase Africa’s growing creativity and global potential, reinforcing its position as the continent’s most prestigious entertainment awards.

Don Julio returns as Lead Sponsor, underscoring the awards’ evolution into a premium celebration of African excellence, innovation, and craftsmanship.

This edition introduces two new Indigenous Language categories Best Indigenous Language North Africa and Best Indigenous Language Central Africa reflecting a commitment to Pan-Africanism and cultural preservation.

The awards feature 32 categories, including 18 jury-decided awards, 11 audience-voted awards, and two special recognition awards: Lifetime Achievement and Trailblazer.

Eligible entries must have been broadcast or publicly screened between 1 January 2025 and 31 December 2025. Feature-length films should have been screened in cinemas, on linear television, or via streaming platforms.

All submissions must be completed online via the official AMVCA portal, with full preview copies uploaded as screened or broadcast.

Renowned for its red-carpet glamour, fashion highlights, and cultural impact, the 12th AMVCA promises an unforgettable celebration of African storytelling.

The ceremony is scheduled to take place in Lagos, Nigeria, in May 2026, with additional details to be announced in the coming months.
