Governor Dapo Abiodun has restated his commitment to addressing the poor state of roads across all 20 local governments in Ogun State, following his return from a trip to India. The governor emphasized that this initiative is part of his promise to enhance the standard of living for all residents, visitors, and potential investors.
Abiodun firmly believes that fixing the deplorable road conditions will not only improve the quality of life for the citizens but also promote economic growth and development.

Upon his return from India, where he sought inspiration and explored potential partnerships for the state’s development, Abiodun stated, “Having resumed back to work after an eventful and short investment driven trip to New Delhi in India, we would like to inform the good people of the Gateway State that our administration will soon kick off the reconstruction of some identified deplorable roads across the Twenty – 20 Local Government Areas in the state.
“This is in fulfilment of our promise to ensure an improved standard of living for every citizens, visitors and investors alike.”
Recall that this is not the first time the governor has been making such promises.
During the campaign for his re-election in 2021 while transversing the state, Abiodun claimed that he felt like his government has not done anything on roads.
“When I was coming from Abeokuta and I rode on that road from Lafenwa to Rounder, down to Olorunda, till I got here, I was just shaking my head. I pity myself and I pity you too. It was just too painful. I was just calling the Commissioner for Works like 10 times that this road is so bad. This is just too unbearable,” he lamented.
Ogun State residents react
However, Ogun people are not happy with the governor as many rushed to under the comment section express their dissatisfaction at the governor.
One wrote: The worst governor in Nigeria at the moment.
Another asked, “Abeg that ADEOLA Odutola college road Ijebu-ode has been abandoned since Amosun tenior make una find something do to am😎”

“Omo I think say some people day say road good 😂Jesus Dis man eh need to go learn how to govern,” one also wrote.
A Twitter handle, Dice Olusola, wrote: The maintenance of roads should not depend on you. You should have an org dedicated to all things road. It 2023, roads should just be roads not some major KPI in how a governor is performing but even now, it’s a fail. God, one day 🙏🏿
