The delegation included political stakeholders and associates, such as former Ijebu Ode Local Government Chairman Alhaji Tajudeen Onabanjo, former Secretary Hon. Adewale Balogun, as well as party elders, leaders, youths, and women.
They were warmly received by Barrister Olivia Bukola Onabanjo, Chairman of the Ogun State Local Government Service Commission and daughter of the deceased.
The condolence visit coincided with a visit from Hon. Titilayo Adeyemi, Vice Chairman of Ijebu Ode Local Government, who offered prayers for Ambassador Isola’s future political endeavours and for strength, comfort, and unity for the Onabanjo family.
After signing the condolence register, Ambassador Isola described Chief Mrs. Lucia Onabanjo as one of Ogun State’s foremost First Ladies.
He praised her commitment to living among the people, sharing in their hopes and struggles long after her husband’s tenure as Governor, saying, “Death may take the body, but it cannot erase the memory of kindness, humility, and service.”
He encouraged women across Ogun State and Nigeria to emulate her virtues, stressing that true influence stems from character, compassion, and consistency rather than position or privilege.
Ambassador Isola also reflected on the legacy of her husband, Chief Victor Olabisi Onabanjo, recalling his journey from Chairman of Ijebu Ode Local Government to Governor of Ogun State, guided by the progressive ideals of Chief Obafemi Awolowo in education, healthcare, and rural development.
Concluding his remarks, Ambassador Isola offered prayers for the souls of Chief Obafemi Awolowo, Chief Victor Olabisi Onabanjo, and his late wife, while invoking blessings for Barrister Olivia Bukola Onabanjo and the entire family.
Responding on behalf of the family, Barrister Olivia Bukola Onabanjo expressed profound gratitude to Ambassador Isola and his delegation, describing their visit as a source of comfort and encouragement during a period of significant loss.
