The recovery was confirmed in a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, on Wednesday.

The operation was carried out by the Commissioner of Police’s Special Patrol Team on 16 December at about 5:00 pm. SP Ikenga said the officers seized one pump-action rifle, a locally fabricated single-barrelled rifle, and an ash-coloured Toyota Highlander with registration number UWN 680 PE.

“The operatives also recovered suspected stolen cash amounting to ₦636,700 and other incriminating items,” the PPRO stated, noting that the suspects fled after colliding with another vehicle during a high-speed chase.
